Ashley Acevedo

Ashley Acevedo is a third-year student at the University of Pennsylvania majoring in Neuroscience with minors in Hispanic Studies and Psychology. After graduation, she plans on attending medical school in hopes of becoming a bilingual physician that serves as an advocate for non-English speakers to ensure they receive the best quality of healthcare possible, as well as to ensure that marginalized communities are better represented in all realms of medicine and research.

During her free time, Acevedo serves as the co-musical director of Penn's premier student-run Latinx musical performing group, Fuerza, which provides a safe space for students to explore Latinx culture through music within the greater Philadelphia area. She also volunteers as a facilitator for Be Body Positive Philly, a 10-week after school program for middle school and high school students to improve self esteem and eating habits in order to decrease eating disorder risk among adolescents.
