Act Like You’ve Been Here Before: Expressing Pride Lowers Forecasted Performance Potential

Evaluating performance potential is a pervasive aspect of everyday life, whether it be determining which students' notes to borrow or which potential employees to hire. As a result, any potential indicators of performance potential can be extremely valuable; many believe pride to be one such indicator. Using experimental social psychology methods, this research project focuses analyzing the relationship between one's pride expression and others' perceptions of their performance potential.
