Activation Energies of African Dark Earth Soils

Soil carbon sequestration has been an advancing technique for offsetting rising global carbon emissions. This project attempts to build on existing sequestration knowledge by studying African Dark Earth (AfDE) soils, a type of soil from western regions of Africa which are far more carbon dense than expected. By using activation energy distributions calculated from thermal analysis experiments, we can understand the type of organic carbon that persists in these soils, leading to a more advanced understanding of their properties.
