Editing Othello

Othello by William Shakespeare is a play that remains significant since its publication as it explores themes such as race, gender, and jealousy, topics that continue to relate to contemporary problems. The research project, Editing Othello, consists of creating a bibliography that further studies the critical analysis and performance history of the play. These bibliographies will comprise of Othello editions from the 1900s and onwards, scholarly works, film adaptations, theater productions, illustrations,  manuscripts, and archival texts. Several online databases as well as visits to the Furness Shakespeare Library and the Penn Kislak Center for Special Collections served as resources when compiling lists of sources. The goal of our research is to provide these bibliographies to our mentor Professor Abdulhamit Arvas as he will be editing Othello for the Oxford World’s Classics.
