Elucidating the role of hyaluronic acid in adipocyte progenitor cell and macrophage behavior

My project focused on how exploring how the adipose progenitor cells and macrophages in the adipose tissue interact with its microenvironment, in this case low molecular weight hyaluronic acid (LMW HA) and high molecular weight hyaluronic acid (HMW HA). I concluded that LMW HA can contribute to the development of obesity through inducing pro-inflammatory macrophage polarization, increasing ECM-related genes and collagen deposition, and decreasing adipogenesis.
