A very engaging project, and an important issue to cover! I was fascinated in particular by the disparaity in the homicide clearance rate in Japan versus the United States. I wonder where the United States stands in relation to other OECD nations, and would be curious what kinds of policies and factors contribute to the relative success of other countries in dealing with this issue.

This is a very interesting topic, and I was surprised by the low clearance and conviction rates. I would assume that with increasing technology and new forms of evidence that homicide clearance would be way higher, but I did not consider that witness intimidation played such a huge role. This does make sense given the general culture of certain communities' unwillingness to talk to law enforcement-- the "no-snitch culture". However, this makes sense given the wide range of negative repercussions that can happen to witnesses.

wow, when you said you are walking past murders and rapists everyday I was really shocked!! I had no idea how low the conviction rate is in America and how many sexual assault perpetrators walk free. Great presentation with really valuable information!

A very informative presentation and a catchy title! It is disturbing and alarming to see how easily people are able to get away with murder so easily. I'm surprised that this is not something that is often talked about. More protections should be made for witnesses and general reform is needed.
