Handoffs and Transitions in Critical Care -- Understanding Scalability

The goal of the Handoffs and Transitions in Critical Care (HATRICC) study is to improve information transfer between clinicians when postoperative patients are brought to the ICU. The specific branch of this project I worked on is the “HATRICC -- Understanding Scalability” (HATRICC – US) study,  which seeks to better communication through the development of standardized handoff protocols catered to the clinical environment and staff of each specific ICU within the study.

This poster is so well made and clearly lays out the issues and possible hazards of missing information when patients are transferred from the OR to ICU.

Hi Sophie, this research is so interesting and relevant to reforming hospitals within the US to be able to more effectively and efficiently treat patients. I especially think that your 4th Aim of transferability of the 10 step protocol across different ICUs is important to ensure best overall practices for as many hospitals as possible. Great work!
