Identification of Specific Bacteria Involved in Lung Tumor Progression & Immune Cell Infiltration

Recent literature has established that our bodies are home to a diverse array of bacterial microorganisms, and commensal bacteria play a key role in regulating oncogenesis and therapeutic responses to cancer treatments. Our lungs are exposed to various types of bacteria due to its direct interaction with the outside world, so we are interested in identifying specific bacteria that are enriched in lung cancer patients compared to healthy ones. By identifying these bacteria, we hope to establish a mechanistic effect through which these bacteria influence proliferation and activation of immune cells that may inhibit anti-tumor responses.
