Immunohistochemical Characterization of the Human Olfactory System

This project focused on mapping the olfactory system in healthy and neurodegenerative human tissue with immunohistochemistry. Customized antibodies against chemoreceptors marked olfactory sensory neurons in the olfactory epithelium and glomeruli in the olfactory bulb. This work is important as the majority of scientific knowledge of the olfactory system comes from mice, and this system does not directly translate to that in humans.
