The Impact of Heat Stress on Temperate Coral Astrangia poculata

During my summer research experience I studied how a coral, Astrangia poculata, and its symbionts respond to heat stress. I worked on three sub-projects to try to answer this broader question. The first project looked at evaluating the effect of heat stress on the chlorophyll content of the symbionts of Astrangia coral samples. The second project I worked on had to with measuring the intracellular pH of coral samples that had undergone heat stress against those that hadn't. The final ongoing project had to do with evaluating the effect of heat stress on the tissue of these coral samples.
