Muscular Segmentation for Development of AI

Research has shown that artificial intelligence (AI) – and its subsets consisting of machine and deep learning – has proven influential in the field of radiology, allowing for the effective and efficient annotation and analysis of medical imaging data. AI-driven muscular segmentation (informed by deep learning methods) has the potential to accurately and precisely streamline the annotation process of abdominal muscle computed tomography (CT) scans. This poster aims to outline the data training step of this ongoing AI development, where 5 annotators segmented 12 key abdominal muscles across 125 patient studies.
