Summer Research and Fellowships Fair

The Netter Center for Community Partnerships

The Netter Center for Community Partnerships is the University's primary vehicle for advancing civic and community engagement at Penn. The Netter Center develops and helps implement democratic, mutually transformative, place-based partnerships between Penn and West Philadelphia that advance research, teaching, learning, practice, and service and improve the quality of life on campus and in the community.

In the summer, undergraduates can participate in one of the following programs:

  • Penn Program for Public Service - an 11-week multi-faceted summer program that immerses approximately 10-12 undergraduates in real-world problem solving in the West Philadelphia-Penn community. Students receive free housing, free course credit from participating in the ABCS seminar, and compensation at $12.50/hour for full-time work at their internship placement. Deadline to apply is Sunday, February 6th. Learn moreĀ HERE.
  • Shah Engaged Research Summer Internship - a 10-week summer research program that provides support to approximately four students (undergraduate or graduate) per summer to pursue research projects that contribute to civic and community engagement. Students' research should focus on helping to solve universal problems such as poverty, health inequities, environmental sustainability, and inadequate, unequal education as they are manifested in West Philadelphia and/or Philadelphia. Undergraduate interns receive a stipend of $4,500. Deadline to apply is Sunday, February 27th. Learn more HERE.
