Synthesis and Characterization of Novel Hydrogel Coatings for Intrinsically Lubricated Condoms: The Condom for the Modern-Day World
There is an inherent demand for a new age condom that innovates in safety and pleasure. With inspiration from recent initiatives, such as the 2013 “Develop the Next Generation of Condom” initiative from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Professor Carpick, my mentor, and his lab decided to collaborate with other labs in material science and nursing to synthesize and characterize novel hydrogel coatings for intrinsically lubricated condoms. I had the pleasure of having been able to work in his research group and help the team with that very goal. We are looking to create the condom for the modern-day world.

Hydrogels! What does it mean…
Hydrogels! What does it mean to add to a hydrogel's network to make it a double network? What does it mean to have a double network? Is it created in a lab and you add it to there....? (I am genuinely curious and genuinely confused, so this question might be basic or off-base!).
