Synthesis of Photocatalysts

In this project, we look to synthesize photocatalysts for both the oxygen and hydrogen evolution reactions of the water-splitting reaction. By following previous work and creating new methods, we can synthesize and analyze three compounds that match up greatly with the XRD data of target compounds. The methodology and procedure were fine-tuned in this project so that these photocatalysts could be made in a manner with minimal error and impurities. These compounds are then going to be tested on their ability to efficiently produce energy (measured through solar to hydrogen conversion efficiency). Due to the extensive and detailed nature of this project, we can look back at this data in the future when it comes time to modify the chemistry of the photocatalysts (to further improve efficiency).
