Summer Research and Fellowships Fair

WXPN, the nationally recognized leader in Triple A radio and the premier guide for discovering new and significant artists in rock, blues, roots, and folk, is the non-commercial, member-supported radio service of the University of Pennsylvania.

One of WXPN’s aims is to provide significant opportunities for students throughout the station to evaluate potential careers in media, the music industry, and other related occupations enhancing their prospects for success in these fields.

In partnership with CURF’s Summer Humanities Internship Program, WXPN will offer three internship positions to qualified candidates within its Programming department in summer 2022. The positions include:

 

Editorial Content Writer Internship: This role is ideal for someone passionate about music with a strong command of writing. As the Editorial Content Writer intern, a student will provide coverage of the Philadelphia music scene through long and short-form pieces on new music, tour announcements, show previews, concert reviews, record reviews, news updates, and more. This position is available in person only. 

Morning Show News Writer Internship: This role is suited for students with a knack for researching and writing news stories. Several mornings of the week, this intern will collaborate with The Morning Show News Director to edit interviews into sound bites for newscasts. This position is available remotely.

World Cafe Programming Internship: This position is ideal for students interested in podcast production, artist management, radio broadcasting, and/or music industry business. The World Cafe Programming intern will be responsible for a myriad of tasks, not limited to, generating promotional on-air copy, creating playlists, and coordinating artist hospitality. This position is available hybrid or remote.
