Ingrid Sotelo
Ingrid grew up in Mexico City, moving internationally to pursue an education at the University of Pennsylvania, where she is now a second-year student studying neuroscience with minors in healthcare management and computational neuroscience with plans to graduate in 2023. At Penn, she is involved with the Moonshot Factory, a committee of the Wharton Undergraduate Healthcare Club that focuses on finding gaps in healthcare-related programs and develops collaborative solutions to meet students’ needs. She has also served as Vice President of Membership for Wharton Latino and helped launch the Wharton Undergraduate Healthcare Club podcast. Since the start of the pandemic, Ingrid has launched Virtual Hour – a SaaS platform that aims to help universities organize online events – as well as developed an educational campaign surrounding the Covid-19 vaccine.
Ingrid’s experience in the industry – serving as an RNAi Therapeutics Intern at Mirimus and as a Healthcare Portfolio Manager as Hispanic Capital Group – led her to BarziLab in May of 2020, where she has been able to explore her research interests. Specifically, Ingrid worked diligently to do the groundwork for the Exposome project, as well as assisted on the CovidSilience project studying resilience during the pandemic. In the future, Ingrid hopes to follow her interest in the intersection of health, business, and technology, finding ways to help people struggling with mental illness. Beyond her passion for healthcare, Ingrid also enjoys theater and musicals, meditation, and exploring the city of Philadelphia.
