Emily Truong

Hello! My name is Emily Truong, and I'm a junior in the College of Arts and Sciences studying Sociology (Culture and Diversity concentration) and English. My research interests concern racial and ethnic identities, specifically among second-generation Vietnamese Americans. I received funding from University Scholars in the summer of 2022 to work on a study exploring the relationship between ethnic and Anglicized birth names and ethnic identity, with Dr. Chenoa Flippen serving as my research mentor. I have previously worked with Dr. Melissa Wilde, analyzing the political identities of American religious groups. Outside of my studies, I co-run the Penn Reads Book Club, the Kelly Writers House Fiber Arts Circle, and Penn Appétit.
