Analyzing Treatments for Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome in Pig Models

We are modeling ARDS by exposing pig lungs to HCl. We are testing the effects of patient position and epinephrine (both considerations when treating ARDS patients) on ventilated pigs, half with induced ARDS, tracking inflammation, functional lung tissue, and blood flow. Our objective is to create a database of the effects of different treatment methods in our ARDS model to increase the body of knowledge and create more personalized treatment models for patients with different ARDS presentations to increase survival rates.
